Step 02 of 03 • Longevity

Care & Maintenance Masterclass

Handcrafted natural materials and premium optical coatings require mindful care. Follow our essential guide.

The Do's for Lenses

  • Use Microfiber: Polish lenses exclusively using your provided SixtySix microfiber cloth.
  • Mild Soap: Use lens wipes or a drop of mild, lotion-free dish soap when deep cleaning oily residues or fingerprints.

The Don'ts for Lenses

  • Never Dry Wipe: Dry rubbing dusty lenses can create micro-scratches over anti-reflective coatings.
  • No T-Shirts or Paper Towels: Wood fibers in tissues/towels and shirt fabric can cause permanent abrasions.
  • No Harsh Solvents: Keep lenses away from acetone, bleach, alcohol wipes, and ammoniated cleaners.

The Do's for Frames

  • Two-Hand Handling: Always put on and remove glasses using both hands to preserve symmetrical hinge tension.
  • Condition Wood: Natural wood grain benefits from an occasional drop of natural beeswax polish once a year.

The Don'ts for Frames

  • Avoid Headband Wearing: Wearing glasses on top of your head can stretch out the temples and misalign the hinges.
  • Submerging Wood: Do not submerge wooden frames in water, this can cause the wood to swell.

The Do's for Storage

  • Always Case It: Store your glasses in their protective SixtySix case whenever they are not on your face.
  • Lenses Upward: When resting frames on a surface, always place them with lenses facing upward.
  • Room Temperature: Keep at ambient indoor temperature to preserve wood layers and lens coatings.

The Don'ts for Storage

  • No Car Dashboards: Car interiors can exceed 70°C in sunlight, which can risk damage to your wooden frames and lenses.
  • No Loose Bags/Pockets: Keys and loose items in pockets or tote bags can easily scratch lenses and frames.
  • Never Face Down: Placing frames lens-down can risk scratches on delicate surface coatings.
